Introducing Student Storytellers
I loved studying film at UCLA and graduated with a Masters Degree in Theater Arts. But after graduation, I had a really hard time surviving as a screenwriter.
I wrote two scripts that were optioned but not made into films and found myself slipping into a depression — my quest to become a successful storyteller in the film industry was only just beginning. And like all quests, I only knew what questions to ask, like:
Why do I procrastinate when it’s time to write?
How do I stay on track while writing a story?
Why do my inner critical voices keep telling me that I’m not good enough?
And: how do I bridge the gap between my UCLA Film School education and “the real world?
Through our Student Storytellers Program, I’m going to share with you my journey from feeling lost and confused after graduating from UCLA — to collaborating on Academy Award winning films and HBO documentaries — while teaching storytelling to over 10,000 students internationally.
